The developers of Diablo 4 have released a statement detailing the upcoming closed beta.
The closed beta will focus on Diablo's endgame so as not to spoil the story.
The closed beta will be available on PC, Xbox, Playstation, supporting cross-platform play and cross-platform updates.
You have until October 11 to update your Blizznet preferences for a chance to receive an invite.
In the wake of the leak of Diablo 4 footage from the Friends & Family closed beta, the developers today released a statement detailing the next phase of the beta phase, the final Diablo 4-focused game internal beta.

In the video above, the developer highlights how the upcoming closed beta will focus on the end-game and what players can expect from the conclusion of Diablo 4's story. In their blog post, they admit that this is where most Diablo players spend their time and that they have no intention of spoil the storylines of Diablo 4's main campaign. To fully accelerate the final beta of the game, Blizzard is selecting players who have spent a significant amount of time in the final Diablo game to be invited to participate in this beta.

Blizzard detailed what we can expect from the final beta of the game:

Helltide will be an area-wide event for players who have reached World Tier III Nightmare difficulty and sounds very similar to the Horror Zone that was recently added to Diablo 2: Resurrected. In Helltide, defenders of Sanctuary will fight enemies on higher difficulty and respawn faster in exchange for higher-tier loot. Enemies will also drop "Cinders", an in-game currency that can be used to open Helltide chests throughout the affected area. Death will cause players to drop Ashes and will be prompted to retrieve them.
The Nightmare Dungeon is a Diablo 4 dungeon on, you guessed it, Nightmare difficulty. Players must first find the Nightmare Mark, which will lead them to the Dungeon in Sanctuary. Seals will add modifiers to dungeons that so far sound very similar to the legendary Seals in Diablo Immortal - adding difficulty to the challenges and improving the quality of loot dropped by enemies. As players progress through the increasingly difficult Nightmare dungeons, the difficulty of the sigils available in the game will increase.
Whispers of the Dead appear to be side quests, with Blizzard saying that players must complete a certain stage of the main quest to get them. However, they are available to all players in this beta phase. On the world map, Whispers gives quests that reward XP, Gold, and "Gloomy Boons" for completing them. Grim Favor is a currency that can be exchanged for loot in Tree of Whispers.
Fields of Hatred will add PvP gameplay to Diablo 4 and is described as a cursed area of the map created by Mephisto-Lord of Hatred. Players must eliminate their enemies to collect Hatred Seeds, which are then transported to the Altar of Excavation. Seeds of Hatred turn into "death dust" that can be exchanged for PvP cosmetics.
Paragon dungeons are unlocked at character level 50 and can be used to unlock more skills and legendary powers for your character. The welded board also unlocks access to locations as you progress, which are tiles that contain glyphs. These Diablo Items can be found all over the world map and provide various benefits.

How can I participate?
So how do you get a seat in the closed beta? Blizzard has revealed that it will use game data to select players who spend significant amounts of time in Diablo 2: Resurrection and the final stages of Diablo 3. While enthusiasm for the game alone won't get you an invite, make sure your preferences are updated on the Battle page. net or in the launcher so that Blizzard has the right to contact you.
